26 August 2021

Suncorp New Zealand’s legal team has been recognised with excellence and shortlisted for Financial Services Legal Team of the Year at the 2021 New Zealand Law Awards.

This award recognises the quality, innovation and value of work done by legal teams in banking, insurance or financial services businesses in New Zealand.

Suncorp New Zealand CEO Jimmy Higgins

Annette Quesado, Head of Legal at Suncorp New Zealand, says the team is thrilled to be recognised with an excellence award.

“Our team strives to operate as a collaborative partner to provide strategic value and enable our business to deliver to Suncorp’s purpose,” she says.

“Insurance can be a complex industry and the legal function is critical to navigating our multiple entities through commercial decisions, major strategic projects and regulatory change.”

The Excellence award recognised the breadth, depth and quality of the work the Suncorp New Zealand legal team has done in the 12 months to 31 March 2021, including supporting its conduct uplift programme, leading negotiations on New Zealand’s Natural Disaster Response Agreement and facilitating the support that Suncorp’s brands offered to customers experiencing Covid-19 related hardship.
