Finalists for two Women in Insurance Awards

Suncorp New Zealand and our Executive Manager for Customer Experience, Catherine Bateman, have been named as finalists at this year’s Insurance Business Women in Insurance Awards. 

The Awards are part of the Key Media Women in Insurance Summit 2019, an event which celebrates the successes of women across the industry, while exploring the challenges of their journey into leadership and sharing insights from both female and male champions of change.

Suncorp New Zealand is a finalist for Employer of the Year, an award which recognises companies in the New Zealand insurance industry that have best demonstrated commitment to achieving a gender diverse and balanced workplace. 

Suncorp’s commitment to creating and fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace is supported by several initiatives, including a focus on flexible working as well as development and support programmes for female employees. Our Remuneration Policy and the Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Policy outline our commitment to fair and equitable remuneration, with gender pay equity actively monitored and reviewed annually. 

Catherine Bateman has been shortlisted for Marketing and Communications Executive of the Year, which recognises the woman who has most effectively promoted a brand in the New Zealand insurance industry through marketing and PR activities over the last year.

In her two years with Suncorp, Catherine and her team have delivered a number of exciting projects which have made an impact in the insurance industry. They include the annual Vero and Asteron Life SME Insurance Index, which shares important insights where brokers and advisers can further help their customers, as well as a project with AA Insurance to enable them to quote and bind insurance online for small businesses - a first in NZ.

The winners will be announced at the Women in Insurance Summit on Tuesday 30 July.
