Suncorp New Zealand announces changes to executive team

18 January 2022

Suncorp New Zealand has appointed Sacha Cowlrick as Executive General Manager, Insurance Solutions as part of a refresh of its broader executive team.

Cowlrick joined Suncorp in 2016 as Executive Manager Operations before taking on the role of Executive Manager, Consumer Insurance Solutions in 2017.

Jimmy Higgins, CEO Suncorp New Zealand, says Cowlrick’s appointment supports Suncorp New Zealand's focus on sustainability, customer obsession and growth.

“As well as her insurance experience, Sacha brings customer focus, curiosity, disruptive thinking and a desire for ongoing improvement. She has been instrumental in developing our insurance solutions strategy and in this role is now well placed to lead the execution.”

As well as Cowlrick’s appointment, Suncorp New Zealand has refreshed other senior leader roles.

Campbell Mitchell has been appointed Executive General Manager, Customer Brand and Distribution. Mitchell joined Suncorp in 2017 as Executive General Manager Customer Marketplace and led the development and delivery of customer strategy before taking on the role of Executive General Manager Claims as part of an executive rotation programme.

Jane Brewer will take on the role of Executive General Manager, Claims and Operations effective July 2022. Brewer has been part of Suncorp New Zealand for 15 years in various roles, most recently as Executive General Manager Technology and Transformation. She brings a wealth of experience in claims, operations and technology to Suncorp’s best in class claims strategy and its simplification programme for operational processes.

Higgins says that the refresh of its senior leadership has put the best team in place to take the business forward.

“We have taken the opportunity in the last year to put a strong team in place who can lead the continuous improvement of our business and deliver great experiences, value and outcomes for our customers,” says Higgins. “I’m also proud that a number of recent appointments have been internal, reflecting the bench strength of our team and the development opportunities offered by our company.”

“These are exciting changes for the Suncorp Aotearoa whānau and I’m confident that we have the team in place that will continue to strengthen our high performance and customer obsessed culture.”
