New Zealand announces Chair transition

Suncorp New Zealand today announced that David Flacks will retire from the Boards of its companies, Vero Insurance New Zealand and Vero Liability, following six years as Chair and 12 years as a director. Current director Rob McDonald will assume the Chair role from 1 September 2025.
Suncorp New Zealand CEO Jimmy Higgins acknowledged Flacks’ significant contribution.
“David’s insight and strategic thinking have helped shape our business into the strong and future-focused organisation it is today. He has been instrumental in guiding our strategy and ensuring we are positioned to meet the challenges of a changing environment. David departs with the respect and gratitude of the entire Suncorp team.”
McDonald is an experienced director who joined the Suncorp New Zealand Boards in March 2025. He is the current Chairman of Contact Energy, a director of FleetPartners Group Limited, and previously served as the Chief Financial Officer of Air New Zealand.
“I want to thank David for the outstanding leadership he’s shown as Chair of Suncorp New Zealand,” said McDonald.
“He has steered the organisation through a period of change and growth, always with a clear focus on doing the right thing for our customers and our people. David’s deep governance experience has been invaluable, and he leaves us in a strong position. I’m excited to step into the Chair role at such an important time and to build on the momentum he has helped create,” McDonald concluded.
